Random Ramblings

The joy of the week, Best Buy had Buffy and Angel DVD’s for half price. Granted, I already own all of Angel, but I was able to pick up the first two seasons of Buffy. I haven’t watched the episodes in a few years so seeing them now is like encountering an old friend. One thing I realized right away: I miss Angel. What a guy—when he’s not evil. Why did they cancel his show so soon?

My recent Ebay order came in the mail this week. A good copy of Stabbing Westward’s Ungod album. Ah, classic 90’s angst, gotta love it. I think the band Stabbing Westward progressively mellowed out with each album. It seems that their albums were a catharsis of sorts. Anyway, this was an ideal week to have such an anger-driven album on hand.

July has come and gone. And with it, the NaNoWriMo experiment I participated in. I’m happy to say I hit my 50,000 word mark and wrote the second longest story I have every done (though it was pointed out to me by a friend that the Magichero comics may total to more than that if I add all of the stories together). I enjoyed NaNoWriMo and recommend it to anyone who enjoys writing. It feels great to put all of the little things of life aside for a month and hammer out a book.

Other than that, July was a crazy month, filled with a lot of strange occurrences in my personal life that I won’t get into here…as juicy as they are.

It appears as though Rahne has had sex in X-Factor 21. Writers just can’t leave something like that alone, can they? Characters just can’t have scruples and principles, can that? Not that it’s easy to have such things, but still.

And on the subject of sex, with Layla and Nicole finding the positive pregnancy test, it looks like one of the women of X-Factor is having a baby. Right now the best bet is M since she rushed out of the room with her hand clapped over her mouth for no apparent reason (other than Rahne’s supposed “doggie breath”). Of course that could be a red herring. Hopefully Peter David goes through with that subplot. Usually characters like the ones in X-Factor are less static than the “A” list characters. Marvel also seems worried about screwing up their top selling characters by attempting to develop them.

For any of you who find yourselves at an artsy, off-beat movie theater in the near future, I recommend seeing The Namesake. Yes, I watched The Namesake and I haven’t seen Transformers or Fantastic Four yet.
