part 3: Night Visitation
December 28, 2004
The next thing I heard was an exclamation, but it was not my death cry. Foray was distracted for a moment, and I had to make the most of it. I grabbed him by the ankles of his leather boots and let the fire do its work.
He yelled before breaking free from my grasp. I saw him running to escape, but he did not display the same speed he had before.
I crawled onto my hands and knees, my breath beginning to return to normal. Slowly, I looked up to see what had distracted Foray. |
Before me stood a man. He wore tan leather
boots that nearly came to his knees. His clothing was a dark shade of
blue. Hanging from his belt was a rapier. Leather gloves covered his
hands and a breastplate and chainmail served as his armor. A dark blue
mask covered his eyes,
cheeks, and the top half of his skull. We stared at each other, yet I could hardly believe what I saw. |
