I watched the little house for a couple of hours before I made any move. It seemed innocent enough: a house like any other in the area. A little run-down, but what wasn’t in that section of the city? The best I could tell, the surrounding houses were vacant, with no one to see what was happening.

The couple that lived in the house seemed innocent as well. They were simple people who had very few possessions in the world, but that was no crime.



I smashed through their front door. At first they seemed surprised, as if they had no idea why I was there.

Then they saw what I was after.
