“Drefan.” I turned and saw Lilja standing behind me. “Are you not staying to help us with the evening crowd?”

She exited the tavern to the streets where I stood.

“No, I have… things to do,” I said, a little ashamed for leaving during the most difficult part of the day.



“Oh,” she said, drawing a little closer. “Trust me, evenings here are not enjoyable. You won’t miss much.”

“I wish I could,” I said. “Normally I don’t back out on work.”
