part 4: Investigation

“I won’t attempt to stop you, but think about
what I’ve said,” the Mist Walker said. |
I looked him over for a few minutes. The hero of a million
stories had saved my life and now he was giving me advice. Obviously, it
was a bizarre moment for me. |

“I will,” I said. With that I turned and walked away.
It was then, for the first time, I realized that several
of the villagers watched the whole scene from a distance. I’m sure
they did not hear any of what was said, but Heaven knew what they would
think. Then, I began to wonder what my parents would think of my disappearance. |
